— Attention to detail in armor making —
" Faithfully reproduced down to the smallest detail "
Our factory is designated as a traditional craft of Kagoshima Prefecture, and our products are carefully handcrafted by skilled craftsmen. We follow the techniques of the time and faithfully reproduce the details.
Our company was established in 1958 as a fishing rod manufacturer called Marutake. Later, as the situation changed, our founder Shinobu Tanoue's passion for collecting armor and his craftsmanship skills developed, and he began to work on armor production. Shinobu Tanoue named himself an armorer called Kounin, and he instructed the craftsmen he had at the time, laying the foundations for the current factory.
The main materials used are iron, brass, and deerskin, and each armor is made in a shape suited to its purpose. We can meet a wide range of customer requests, from armor for personal use to furnishings and armor for the Boys' Festival.
There are no blueprints, and each piece of armor is carefully crafted based on the artisan's aesthetic sense, making it unique.
In addition, the armor produced in our factory has received numerous requests for repairs and reproductions from shrines, temples, and museums, and has also been used as costumes in movies and TV dramas, among other achievements.
Based on our experience, we can not only improve the design, but also improve safety and simplify and reduce the weight, so please feel free to consult us about anything related to armor and period costumes. In addition to the lineup on our website, we also accept custom orders to meet various requests.
The armor is carefully crafted by skilled craftsmen using carefully selected materials and paying attention to every detail, making it a masterpiece that will evoke moments of bliss.
